WHAT'S INCLUDED:
A. Arrival/Departure, Initial Days Getting Settled, General Transportation
1. Private transfers, in/out of airport/hotel/airport, reception with a speaker with the group’s name or WWB Logo by a bilingual (Spanish/English) driver; in a vehicle with air conditioning and assistance with luggage.

2. Private transfer during all excursions and tours in special tourist vehicles with air conditioning and bilingual driver. Depending on the number of people in the family, an appropriate-size vehicle will be sent.
3. Private transfer for all parents on the first day of the Thinking Mind GROW Camp, to/from the camp location, so that parents can visit the camp location and participate in the welcome event alongside their children.

B. 28 nights of accommodation at Estelar Apartamentos in the El Poblado neighborhood of Medellin (both Groups 1 & 2).

- Group 2: Saturday July 20, 2024 (1st night) - Friday Aug. 16, 2024 (28th night) (Departure: Saturday August 17, 2024)
1. 28 nights of accommodation in a 2-bedroom apartment (sleeps 5).

- Can be 1 king & 2 single beds OR 2 king beds. (Families need to indicate their preference upon paying their program deposit to WWB.)

2. Apartment complex provides:
- 24/7 staff in lobby
- 24/7 security officers stationed in Security Office just outside the lobby entrance
- Personal keycard access to all common areas and individual apartments
- a restaurant with hot & cold buffet breakfast included each morning for all Guests.
- a fitness center with treadmills and free weights
- Wifi available in all common areas
- Laundry service (for an additional fee to each family, priced per kilo. Same day or Next-day service).
C. For Visiting Kids/Teens ages 4 - 18
1. This multicultural “GROW” Camp Program with Thinking Mind is designed for kids between 4 and 18 years old. The kids are assigned to a group according to their age: from 4 to 6 years old, from 6 to 10 years old, from 10 to 14 years old, and from 14 to 18 years old. Kids/teens that are ages that overlap between each group can be in either group, depending on whether the parents recommend that they be the oldest in a group or the youngest.
2. The camp takes place on FOUR DAYS each WEEK from Monday to Thursday, from 09:00 a.m. to 03:00 p.m. The camp is held for the first 3 weeks during the 4 week program. The 4th week of each program, there is no camp. This allows families time to spend together, visiting local places in Medellin or overnight in the surrounding region.
- Group 1 (Sat June 15 - Sat July 13, 2024) - Camp is the following dates:
- Week 1: Mon June 17 - Thurs June 20
- Week 2: Mon June 24 - Thurs June 27
- Week 3: Mon July 1 - Thurs July 4
- Group 2 (Sat July 20 - Sat Aug 17, 2024) - Camp is the following dates:
- Week 1: Mon July 22 - Thurs July 25
- Week 2: Mon July 29 - Thurs Aug 1
- Week 3: Mon Aug 5 - Thurs Aug 8
3. Transportation for the kids & teens from Estelar Apartamentos to the Thinking Mind Camp (and return) is included in the program.
4. Camp includes snacks in the morning, lunch, and hydration.
5. Classes and activities in English with native, certified teachers and staff. Students will be in classes according to their age and level. The kids will have outdoor activities, Spanish classes, STEM activities, debates, role-playing, and different media interactions. All the activities are oriented to language- learning; this is a linguistic and multicultural experience! STEM classes (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) combine pedagogical, recreational, artistic, musical, cultural, and historical aspects with Spanish classes. Visiting kids & teens will strengthen language skills with native teachers from various countries on five continents, certified and trained together with our experienced Activity Leaders.
6. Tours: During the camp the kids and teens will have the opportunity to attend 1 excursion/tour per week. Transportation is included. Examples are: The planetarium, Botanical Garden, the Antioquia Museum, Explora Park, Barefoot Park, El Castillo Museum.Tour activities and extracurricular experiences depend 100% on Thinking Mind and will be determined weeks before the program begins.
7. On the initial day, parents can visit the camp location and participate in the welcome event alongside their children. On the final day of the camp, an exclusive graduation ceremony for the kids will be held. Parents will be invited to share in this moment, witnessing their child's achievements and receiving their Participation Certificate.
8. Students will receive a backpack, a pen, sunscreen, activities, and other items to complement their experience in the Thinking Mind Grow Camp.
D. For Visiting Kids ages 0 - 3 years old
- Visiting kids ages 0 - 3 can attend all evening & weekend events free of charge with their parent(s).
- Parents will be expected to keep their kids ages 0 - 3 with them at all times OR hire a babysitter for their child(ren).
- MuvON will provide information about local babysitting services that parents can contact directly.
- Neither MuvON nor WWB endorse any particular babysitter or babysitting/nanny service.
E. For Parents Only!
- Three (3) Friday Evenings of Cocktails, Food Tastings and Local experts!
- Parents will enjoy an evening of cocktails, small tastings of food (with a Colombian touch!) and local experts sharing their knowledge of local culture and customs.
- Topics & Locations:

- Medellin’s Transformation (Location: Pablo Escobar House Museum)

F. For the Whole Family: Activities & Excursions!
1. Welcome Event on Arrival Weekend: Jardin Botanico de Medellin
- Group 1: Sunday June 16, 2024
- Group 2: Sunday July 21, 2024
- Included:
- Transportation from Estelar Apartamentos to Botanical Jardin of Medellin
- 3-course lunch at on-site restaurant for all visiting families (adults, kids & teens)
- Lecture about Colombia, generalities such as weather, security, public transport, recommendations, program explanation, additional experience options (medical, ophthalmological, personalized training, private classes, among others), and emergency contacts
- Presentation of the Local Host, MUVon, and the Thinking Mind members.
- Launching the WhatsApp group of the program.
- Transportation from Botanical Jardin of Medellin back to Estelar Apartamentos.
2. Guided walking tour of El Poblado neighborhood: A bilingual (English/Spanish) guide will take visiting families on a walking tour of El Poblado neighborhood, their new home for the next month!
- Group 1: Monday June 17, 2024
- Group 2: Monday July 22, 2024
3. Cross-Cultural Integration Day (#1): WWB families will have a wonderful experience getting to know local families with kids/teens!
- Group 1: Saturday June 22, 2024, approximately 4-6 hours.
- Group 2: Saturday July 27, 2024, approximately 4-6 hours.
- Details & what’s included:
- This will be a gathering with a BBQ/Picnic for the Visiting & Local Families at Arvi Park.
- The Thinking Mind staff/leaders will bring the local families.
- Transportation to Arvi Park will be with public transportation: Metro Cable (one-way) and Las Palmas Via (one-way).
- WWB families will be transferred between the Estelar Apartamentos and public transportation.
- (Local families will use their own transportation to the event location OR, if they start at the Estelar Apartamentos, they can join the group transportation as well.)
- A picnic-style meal together will be included as well as non-alcoholic beverages for kids/adults and 2 beers per adult.
- Fun outdoor games and activities specially designed to facilitate interaction between the visiting families and the local families. These activities will be designed by Arvi Park staff.
4. 4-Hour Tour of Comuna 13 Neighborhood & Graffiti Art
- Group 1: Saturday June 29, 2024
- Group 2: Saturday Aug 3, 2024
- The city of Medellín offers a great variety of urban art due to the city’s transformation over the last 20 years. Nowadays, the city is so full of countless street art expressions that the local authorities declared urban art a cultural landmark of Medellín. Graffiti is not only about vital artistic and cultural elements; it is a way of political expression. See the graffiti of Comuna 13 guided by some of the local artists themselves. This tour gives you an insight into this área’s history and daily life and the importance of street art for social communication and identity.
- Experience highlights:
- Get to know the urban artists of Medellín’s Comuna 13.
- Understand the graffiti's artistic, cultural, and political context in Medellín.
- Learn about the different graffiti styles and interact with the local artists.
- WWB visiting families’ involvement is an active support of art projects.
- Included:
- Transportation from Estelar Apartamentos to the start of the walking tour in Comuna 13.
- bilingual (English/Spanish), certified guide who either lives/lived in the neighborhood themselves or whose family lives/lived in the Comuna 13 neighborhood.
- the tour guides will adapt the stories that they share for an audience with children.
- Bottles of water.
- a snack or drink item for each participant that is representative of the Comuna 13 Neighborhood.
- Transportation from Comuna 13 back to the Estelar Apartamentos.
5. Cross-Cultural Integration Day (#2) - WWB families will have a wonderful experience getting to know local families with kids/teens!
- Group 1: Saturday July 6, 2024, approximately 4-6 hours.
- Group 2: Saturday Aug 10, 2024, approximately 4-6 hours.
- Details & what’s included:
- This will be a gathering with a BBQ Lunch for the Visiting & Local Families in the Metroplex area.
- A local foundation will bring the local families.
- The transfer will be in vehicles with air conditioning
- The destination of this activity is not yet defined, it could be an open-air restaurant, an open-air park or an open-air event hall where visiting parents/kids/teens and local parents/kids/teens can spend time together.
- WWB families will be transferred between the Estelar Apartamentos and the TBD location where activity #2 is planned (Local families will use their own transportation to the activity location OR, if they start at the Estelar Apartamentos, they can join the group transportation as well.)
- A BBQ style lunch together will be included as well as non-alcoholic beverages for kids/adults and 2 beers per adult.
- Fun outdoor games and activities specially designed to facilitate interaction between the visiting families and the local families.
6. Excursion to Sillertero Flower Farm in Santa Elena - Sunday July 7th, 2024, approximately 4 hours.
- The small village of Santa Elena is located less than an hour outside of Medellín, in the mountains of Antioquia (over 2000 m high). It is home to a great variety of traditional flower farmers. The flower arrangements of the Flower Festival (“Feria de Flores”), called “silletas” have an impressive history, and are today a cultural symbol of Medellín. On this tour we visit an organic flower farm and experience the traditional peasant culture of Santa Elena. Experience highlights
- Visit the idyllic town Santa Elena and meet a traditional “Silletero”
- Enjoy breathtaking views of the valley of Medellín
- Visit an organic flower farm
- Meet local farmers and get to know their way of life in balance with nature
- Included:
- Transportation for each group from Estelar Apartamentos to Santa Elena Flower Farm
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) tour of the Flower Farm by a tour guide/host that has specific, personal knowledge of these farms.
- Water and small snacks related to the experience.
- Lunch for all participants is included - location is TBD/flexible, depends upon timing and interest of the group.
- Transportation back to Estelar Apartamentos.
7. Farewell Lunch, Departure Weekend: “La Mayoría Restaurante–Bar” in Envigado.
- Group 1: Friday July 12, 2024.
- Group 2: Friday Aug 16, 2024.
- Details & what’s included:
- Transportation from Estelar Apartamentos to La Mayoría Restaurante-Bar.
- A fun afternoon with activities, a tour of the farm, games in the children’s area, and time to enjoy the ponies, llamas, little horses, cows.
- 3 course lunch at on-site restaurant for all visiting families (adults, kids & teens)
- Non-alcoholic beverages for kids/teens/adults
- 2 beers per adult
- The MUVon team gives farewell presentations to the families
- Transportation from La Mayoría Restaurante-Bar back to Estelar Apartamentos.
G. Local Host
- 1 bilingual (English-Spanish) local host for 8 families (max) will:
- be available from 7 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday at the Estelar Apartamentos during the 4 weeks of the program.
- be attentive in the WhatsApp group for any request that arises at other hours.
- continue living in their own home in Medellín.
- accompany the tours and activities during the program.
- ensure that the kids & teens get to/from Thinking Mind GROW Camp each day
- coordinate the Friday events (speakers & cocktail excursions for parents and Pizza/movie night for kids/teens at the 6th floor of Estelar Apartamentos).
- assist with all inquiries from Parents.
- provide weekly Briefings to families about upcoming Weekend Excursions & Events.
- accompany the weekend excursions if needed (for weekend excursions, professional guides will be provided by MuvON to lead the excursions).
- create WhatsApp Groups for various sub-groups within the Visiting Family Community (“Parents of kids ages 4 - 12”, “Parents of teens ages 13 - 18”, etc etc).
- help participants feel like locals. Eg: Give them tips on where to find great produce/coffee/kids’ playgrounds/restaurants and help them learn how to navigate the EL Poblado neighborhood & the surrounding neighborhoods.
- be available 24/7 should any emergencies arise.
H. Miscellaneous
- Tips/Gratuities
- For any RESTAURANT meal for the whole group, tips for servers will be included in the program fee. (Restaurant meal = Welcome Lunch & Farewell BBQ/Dinner).
- For tour guides, van drivers, Local Host, etc: gratuity is NOT included and can be added at each family’s discretion.
WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED:
- Flights
- Travel and medical insurance
- Tips and gratuities for vehicle drivers, guides and local host
- Personal expenses such as telephone calls, laundry, hotel extras, etc.
- Meals not described in the list of What's Included
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS:
- Cancellations made 120 days or more prior to the retreat start date shall receive a full refund (i.e., February 16, 2024).
- Cancellations 119 to 90 days prior to the retreat start date shall incur a fee equal to 25% of the program price.
- Cancellations 89 to 61 days prior to the retreat start date shall incur a fee equal to 50% of the program price.
- Cancellations 60 to 45 days prior to the retreat start date shall incur a fee equal to 75% of the program price.
- Cancellations 44 to 0 days prior to the departure shall incur a fee equal to 100% of the program price.
- In the event of a cancellation between 45 and 89 days prior to departure, the refund will be by credit, usable on a future Working Without Borders retreat which commences within 2 years of the original retreat start date.
PAYMENTS:
- Once your application has been approved, you pay your $1500 deposit, which guarantees your spot.
- Your Balance Due must be paid by March 31.
SELLER OF TRAVEL DISCLOSURES:
- Working Without Borders is a Registered California Seller of Travel (CST 2148820-50). Registration as a seller of travel does not constitute approval by the State of California.
- Upon cancellation of transportation or travel services, all sums paid for services not provided to the passenger, will be promptly paid to the passenger, when the passenger is not at fault and had not canceled in violation of any terms previously clearly and conspicuously disclosed to and agreed to by the passenger, and unless the passenger otherwise advises the seller of travel in writing, upon cancellation.
- California law requires certain sellers of travel to have a trust account or bond. This business has a bond issued by Westfield National Insurance Company in the amount of $ 25,000.
- Transactions are covered by the California Travel Consumer Restitution Fund (TCRF) if the passenger is located in California at the time of payment. For passengers purchasing from outside of California, transactions are not covered by the TCRF.
- Eligible passengers may file a claim with the TCRF if the passenger is owed a refund of more than $50 for transportation or travel services which the seller of travel failed to forward to a proper provider or such money was not refunded when required. The maximum amount which may be paid by the TCRF to any one passenger is the total amount paid on behalf of the passenger to the seller of travel, not to exceed $15,000.
- A claim must be submitted to the TCRF within 12 months after the scheduled completion date of the travel. A claim must include sufficient documentation to prove your claim and a $35 processing fee. Claimants must agree to waive their right to other civil remedies against a registered participating seller of travel for matters arising out of a sale for which you file a TCRF claim.
